MIGRATION ENQUIRY
Tuesday 6 May 2008
at 10.00 for 10.30 a.m.-3.00 p.m. at Leeds Church Institute, 20 New Market Street,
Leeds, LS1 6DG
Churches Together in England and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland say that the challenges to the churches posed by the current levels of migration cannot be denied or ignored. The consultation in Leeds, co-operation with the Churches Commission for Yorkshire and the Humber, is an opportunity both to hear from others and to share what you can.
There is growing concern about the problems of access to affordable credit faced by poorer people trapping them in poverty and the need for new strategies to overcome this. The Churches Regional Commission for Yorkshire and the Humber invite you to attend a second regional seminar which includes national speakers from the banking sectors, to revisit issues, assess progress and examine potential solutions for our region. This follow up seminar aimed to consider ways of enabling more people to share in the region’s prosperity by making financial services as inclusive as possible.
It was particularly targeted towards decision makers in regional organisations, the financial sector and the voluntary sector and people in the churches and faith-based organisations.
The programme included:
A Briefing Paper published by CRC to introduce the issues, report on progress towards solutions and facilitate action within local communities is currently being updated following developments and the seminar event. The Paper will be free, and available to download from this website in the Autumn of 2006 or by request from CRC. You can also get in touch with the Social Inclusion Task Group leading this area of work via CRC with your comments and queries.
